sab pal bhar ke mehmaan hai piya:
do raaton-
ki baton ko, phir-
do pal mein bhula diya.
mazaak nahi, junoon nahi,
ek botal sharaab hai miya;
mann kehta hai todd de issey, phodd de issey,
aur dil ne jaise pee hai liya.
zehen ki raatein sochein aakhir:
ae dil, yeh tune kya kiya?
pal bhar ke hi mehmaan the hum, aur-
pal bhar ke hi mehmaan hai piya.
pal bhar mein hi jeele tu,
iss botal ko pee le tu.
dekha kya pal-do-pal mein,
teri nazron mein kho gaye hum.
thodi si kya hass di tu,
tere dil ke ho gaye hum.
pata hai ji, dil toh sab hai moh aur maaya,
par dil toh karta hai, ki kaash:
maine bhi tere iss dil ko paaya;
kaash tune bhi mera dil liya,
jaante hue, ki aakhir hum bhi,
pal bhar ke mehmaan hai piya.
